PHULKARI HOUSE

Located in a serene, residential locality in Jalandhar, this 2210 sq ft linear plot has its shorter side facing the road to its east and other residences abutting the rest of its three sides. The home is named “phulkari” which allegorically refers to the idea of hand knitted floral arts and artifacts. The use of vernacular elements in the interiors such as matki, charkha and phulkari are rooted deeply in the culture of Punjab. It iterates a sense of belonging and association of the residents to their home thereby exuding a calming energy and creating an emotional connection for the user within the confines of their home.
